From a very young age, my mother instilled a love for reading in me. I’m still a huge reader and believe libraries are not only just a place for books but also the heart of a community. I am a recent graduate of Keuka College with a B.A. in Child/Family Studies and a B.A. in History/Political Science; both are topics I’m passionate about and can incorporate aspects of my knowledge in, into our library. I’m a life-long learner and will be continuing my education this Fall through SUNY Cortland Online to receive my Masters in Recreational Therapy, just one more area of knowledge I hope to incorporate into the community. In addition to fun programming, I love recommending books and have a guilty pleasure for cliché young adult romance novels! I look forward to meeting you all!

Reading and libraries have always been a big part of my life. My Mom was a mystery lover, Agatha Christie and P.D. James were among her favorites. My Dad was a nonfiction reader who read our entire Encyclopedia set cover to cover. I was a frequent visitor at the Ogdensburg Library. I volunteered there both as a teen and with my students when I worked for B.O.C.E.S. When I was contemplating retirement, I joked I was going to work at the Waddington Library. Shortly after I retired in 2012, I saw an ad for a library assistant position. I love helping our patrons find books by their favorite authors and discovering new favorites. My career as a social worker has been helpful in directing patrons to various community services when they come to the library seeking assistance.

All my life I have been an avid reader and growing up my mom would always take my brother and I to the Norfolk library to get new books every month. Libraries have always been some of my favorite places and I wish that I realized sooner how much I would enjoy working with books and helping other people find new books to enjoy. While I have previously worked as a resident funeral director and as a supervisor at the Bon-Ton, I have plans to get my Master’s Degree in Library Science. My favorite books include “Jane Eyre,” “And, Then There Were None,” and “Sky in the Deep.” I am always reading a book and enjoy physical books, audiobooks, and just recently have explored e-books. I can’t wait to get to know the Waddington community and support all members with their reading needs!
